Study Tips
My philosophy regarding grades is that if students are struggling to grasp some of the difficult concepts in science
and receiving low test, they can still pass the class with good effort. The key is to complete all classwork and homework
in the packets on time and take good notes. See the Grade Improvement Tips (left below) for suggestions on ways to raise grades.
A science log with all the unit vocabulary and asignments are turned in on the day of tests. I t has a table of content
which lists all the asignments, the points possible, and the points earned.
TESTS are given about every two weeks. They test students' knowledge of the concepts and vocabulary for the two week
unit. Students should study their notes, vocabulary, and packets in preparation for each test. I give out a study guide which
lists the concepts that will be on the test or sample test question. I read the actual test questions and answers at 8:44am
two days before each test. Note cards and quizzing are also a helpful ways to learn the material. The tests are multiple choice,
true/false, matching, and fill-in. The students are welcome to use calculators.
The lowest test of the trimester will be dropped.
Parents. If your child has a low grade, the single most important way to help improve your childs' grade is to check the
planner for classwork and homework assignments. Have you child show you the planner and the completed work. Homework is never
turned in on the day it is assigned. The completed homework will raise the grade and help test scores!
